Share a board
One link with a view or edit role, guests who join without an account, and turning a link off.
What each role can do
- Owner
- Everything, including sharing, renaming and deleting the board. Pays for the AI on it.
- Editor
- Draws, edits and moves everything. Signed-in editors can ask the AI, paid from the owner's balance.
- Viewer
- Looks around, follows, comments, joins calls and chats at the cursor, but changes nothing. Sees a View only badge.
- Guest
- Anyone who opened the link without an account. An editor or viewer who cannot ask the AI.
Opening the link once makes someone a member: they find the board under Shared with you on their Boards page and get back in without the link, for as long as the link is on.
Guests, no account needed
Someone who opens the link without an account joins straight away under a made-up name such as Guest Otter or Guest Heron, which they can change under Menu → Your name. Everyone sees the new name at once. Guests draw, edit, comment and join calls. Asking the AI needs an account, so nobody spends your balance by joining.
A guest who signs in later keeps everything: the boards they joined, their comments and their chats come along to the account.
Change or stop sharing
- Change the role
- Switch between edit and look at any time. People on the board reconnect with the new role.
- Make a new link
- The old link stops working, members are removed, and everyone is disconnected at once.
- Stop sharing
- Turns the link off and removes everyone but you.
Someone who loses access sees “This board is not shared with you anymore”. Access through the realtime connection lasts at most ten minutes without a valid link, so a revoked link stops working quickly even on screens left open.
Sharing a board from the front page
The board on the front page lives in your browser. Sharing it puts a copy on the server without an account and makes the link. A board shared this way is removed 10 days after its last edit unless you sign in to keep it, and the dialog says so.
